  1. Job Purpose

The Chief Fire Services Officer will be responsible for providing leadership to the section and implement policies for the provision of Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (ARFFS) in conformity with both local and international standards and recommended practices. 

  • Key Duties and responsibilities
  1. Providing leadership to the rescue and firefighting team through overall planning and  management of the station;
  2. Training airport operators and other organizations on ARFFS awareness;
  3. Ensuring that  fire equipment and plants are serviceable  to mitigate fire outbreaks;
  4. Ensuring  optimal utilization of skills through deployment and supervision of the airport rescue and firefighting team;
  5. Ensuring that emergency fire access routes are accessible and free of any obstacles;
  6. Inspecting airside equipment such as radars, highloaders, tractors and all other vehicles operating at the airside meet regulatory and safety requirements;
  7. Ensuring annual training program of fireman and other unscheduled programs are conducted; and
  8. Preparing and periodically testing airports emergency orders.
  • Key Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Safety & Security Management/Disaster Management / Emergency & Risk Management or a related field from a recognized learning institution
  • Senior Airport Fire Officer Certification from a recognized institution
  • At least 8 years of relevant work experience with at least 3 years of managerial/supervisory experience
  • Skills and Competencies

Teamwork, good communication, interpersonal, supervisory and analytical skills.

Terms and Conditions of Service                      

The Corporation Secretary and General Manager positions shall be for a three (3) year contract term renewable subject to satisfactory performance or attainment of mandatory retirement age whichever happens earlier. The other positions will be on permanent and pensionable terms as per the provisions of the Authority’s Human Resource Policy and Procedures Manual.

(i) Police Clearance Certificate from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations

(ii) Clearance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)

(iii) Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)

(iv) Clearance from the Ethics & Anti-corruption Authority (EACC)

(v) Report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)

The clearance certificates should be valid and current.

The self-declaration Form from EACC should indicate the respective position that is being applied for.
